Inter Milan players are ready to start filtering back into training from international duty over the coming week.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight when various members of the squad should be back ahead of next weekend’s return to Serie A action against Torino.
At the moment, Inter are still working with a threadbare squad in training as none of the internationals have returned.
However, that will soon change.
Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi gave those players not currently on international duty the weekend off. Tomorrow, they will be back in training.
It will still only be players who had stayed behind during the break who train tomorrow.
But that will change very quickly.
One of the first internationals to be back will be Hakan Calhanoglu.
The 29-year-old already played the first EURO 2024 qualifier with Turkey, who he captains, last week. And this evening, Turkey take on Latvia in their second qualifier of the break.
And Yann Sommer will also be back soon. Switzerland take on Belarus this evening, following the rescheduling of their match against Israel.
More Inter Players Filtering Back From International Duty – Lautaro & Augusto The Last To Return
Calhanoglu and Sommer will be back in training early next week.
And not too far behind will be Dutch pair Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij.
The Netherlands take on Greece in a potentially decisive EURO 2024 qualifier tomorrow evening.
And then on Tuesday, Italy face England in their final EURO 2024 qualifier of the break.
As has become customary, the final players to return from international duty will be those players currently with South American teams.
Alexis Sanchez will be in action on Tuesday night with Chile.
Then Lautaro Martinez and Carlos Augusto will play matches with Argentina and Brazil respectively. They will then be back in Italy about 24 hours later.
For the likes of Martinez and Augusto, it will more or less be the bare minimum of time to prepare for next Saturday’s match against Torino.
