Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard will start for France against Scotland this evening, whilst AC Milan’s Olivier Giroud will start over Nerazzurri striker Marcus Thuram.

This according to French newspaper L’Equipe, via FCInterNews.

France have already sealed qualification for the Euros with their 2-1 victory over the Netherlands earlier on in the international break.

However, there is still another match to go before their break is over.

France host Scotland in their second of two qualifiers of the break.

And it is not as though Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps will simply send out a weakened starting eleven. The French will still look to use the match as an opportunity to build cohesion and momentum.

Therefore, plenty of regulars from the French starting eleven will line up in the match.

Inter Defender Pavard To Start For France Vs Scotland – Giroud To Start Over Thuram

In defense, Inter defender Pavard will return to the starting eleven. The 27-year-old did not start against the Netherlands last week, but he will play from the start this evening.

Pavard is more than capable of playing at either centre-back or right-back.

At the 2018 World Cup, Pavard played on the right of France’s back four.

For Bayern Munich, the Frenchman played on the right and in the centre of a back four. He also regularly featured in a back three.

Meanwhile, for Inter Pavard has exclusively played on the right side of a back three.

L’Equipe report that the Nerazzurri man will play in the centre of defense. He’ll start alongside Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate, whilst Marseille’s Jonathan Clauss will start on the right.

And Inter striker Thuram will have to settle for a place on the bench.

It will be AC Milan and former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud who leads the line. Giroud is Les Bleus’ all-time top scorer.
