Inter Milan midfielders Nicolo Barella and Davide Frattesi and defender Francesco Acerbi will all start for Italy in this evening’s EURO 2024 qualifying match against England.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who anticipate the Azzurri lineup at Wembley. The Italian national team face a massive match in their efforts to qualify for next summer’s Euros this evening.

Luciano Spalletti’s men take on England at Wembley.

Therefore, a result against the group leaders would be vital for Italy to give themselves a foothold in the group table. As things stand, the margins are thin especially after Ukraine had beaten North Macedonia.

Italy won their first qualifier of the international break. They beat Malta 4-0 at home. And in that match, four Inter players had started.

It had been a largely Nerazzurri backline with Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, and Matteo Darmian all starting. Roma’s Gianluca Mancini also started. As did Nicolo Barella.

However, Italy coach Spalletti will change things up this evening.

Inter Trio Barella, Frattesi & Acerbi To Start For Italy Vs England

According to FCIN, there will be a complete shakeup of the back four. This will see all three Inter players who had started against Malta drop out.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Destiny Udogie, Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini, and Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo will replace Dimarco, Bastoni, and Darmian respectively.

But taking the place of Mancini will be another Inter player. Veteran Nerazzurri defender Acerbi will partner Scalvini at the heart of Italy’s back four.

Meanwhile, Inter midfielder Barella will keep his place in midfield, FCIN predict.

Furthermore, another Nerazzurri player will start in the centre of the pitch for Italy – Frattesi.

FCIN report the likely Azzurri starting eleven for this evening’s match at Wembley as follows:

Italy (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Scalvini, Acerbi, Udogie; Barella, Cristante, Frattesi; Berardi, Scamacca, El Shaarawy.
