Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will undoubtedly start for Inter Milan in Saturday evening’s Serie A match against Torino.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who also report that Stefan de Vrij could start the match.
Inter are now just a couple days from returning to Serie A at the end of the international break.
The Nerazzurri face off against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Saturday evening.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is still considering what the lineup that starts Saturday evening’s match will look like.
According to the Gazzetta, however, there is one name that will be on the teamsheet no matter what.
Inter Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan To Start Vs Torino
Former Roma, Arsenal, and Manchester United midfielder Mkhitaryan has stayed behind during the international break.
The 34-year-old has retired from international duty. Therefore, there was no call-up for him from the Armenian national team during the break.
Instead, Mkhitaryan has spent the past week and change preparing to be at his physical best during Saturday’s match.
Therefore, there would hardly be much of a chance of Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi leaving him out.
Mkhitaryan should be fresh and fit, whereas with some other players there will be questions about their condition after their participation in international fixtures.
The only question, however, concerns where Mkhitaryan will play.
The Armenian could start the match in midfield.
This would be in line with the position that Mkhitaryan has typically played since joining Inter from Roma. He has been a key cog on the left of the Nerazzurri midfield.
But on the other hand, Mkhitaryan could also start in an attacking midfield role.
If Lautaro Martinez is not ready to start after his gruelling international duty travel, then Mkhitaryan would start in the front pairing, the Gazzetta reports.
Meanwhile, the newspaper anticipates, there is a good chance of Stefan de Vrij starting ahead of Francesco Acerbi in defense.
