Inter Milan will have their squad depth put to the test as the fixture list really starts to throw matches at them.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, highlight the fact that the Nerazzurri are at risk of having the fixture list spread them very thin if they are not careful.

Inter made their return to action from the international break on Saturday.

The Nerazzurri beat Torino 3-0 on Saturday evening.

That came two weeks after Inter’s last match in Serie A. However, for many of the players in the squad, there had also been some very demanding fixtures during the break – to say nothing of the potential jet lag from travel during the break.

Inter didn’t look like they were a team with an international break hangover in that match.

On the contrary, the Nerazzurri managed the match reasonably well against a tough, aggressive team in the first half. And then in the second, they grew into the match.

Substitutions at the right time were key to how Inter survived on Saturday.

And they’ll only become more important, along with rotation from match to match, in the coming weeks.

Inter Squad Depth To Be Put To The Test

Inter may only have last played on Saturday.

But the Nerazzurri will already be right back on the pitch tomorrow.

That is just a couple of days in which the squad will have to rest, recuperate, and regain their condition.

Clearly, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have to think about making some extensive rotations to the starting lineup in order to avoid burnout for some of his most important players.

Then Inter are back on the pitch against next Sunday. The Nerazzurri will host Roma in Serie A.

Already Inter are facing big tests of their ability to cope with a lot of matches in a short space of time.

And that is only going to become more and more the case as the gruelling season wears on.
