Inter Milan midfielder Davy Klaassen reveals the reasons that prompted him to leave his beloved Ajax in the summer.

The 30-year-old started his career at the Amsterdam-based club. In 2017, he left the Netherlands to embark on a foreign adventure with Everton and then Werder Bremen.

In 2020, he returned for a second stint at Ajax. But in the summer, the two parties opted to part ways once again.

The midfielder still had a year left on his contract. However, the Lancers agreed to rescind his deal, allowing him to join Inter on a free transfer on deadline day.

The Dutch international finally opened up on his late-summer move which came out of the blue.

Klaassen simply said that his former employers chose to take another path and he no longer felt important at the club.

“Ajax took another path at that moment. This was the reason why I also made this decision,” explained the experienced midfielder in appearance on Cor Potcast via FcInterNews.

“Ajax remains my club. I would have liked to stay and help them. However, I had the feeling that I no longer have anything to achieve at the club.”

Since joining Simone Inzaghi’s ranks, Klaassen has made three Serie A appearances, only one as a starter.

He also made had two brief cameos in the Champions League, but is yet to establish himself as a pillar at the club.

The midfielder is a Netherlands international who scored 10 goals in 41 caps. However, his lack of playing time for the Nerazzurri saw hi, dropped out of the squad in the most recent international break.
