Inter Milan are closing in on a spot in the expanded FIFA Club World Cup which will take place in June 2025.

The current version of the competition takes place every winter and only includes the reigning continental champions alongside the hosts.

This brief tournament hardly attracts the interest of worldwide supporters, especially with the European champions emerging as the winners on almost every occasion.

So starting in 2025, FIFA will adopt a revamped concept that will see 32 clubs battling it out in the summer. This will be similar to the nations’ World Cup.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInter1908, Inter are on the cusp of securing qualification for the tournament’s maiden edition.

The Nerazzurri continue to produce positive results in the Champions League. Thus, they should soon book their place as one of Europe’s twelve representatives.

As the source explains, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City have already earned their berths as the winners of the last three UCL editions.

Moreover, Bayern Munich (90) and Paris Saint-Germain (70) have almost booked their places thanks to their respective UEFA coefficients.

The Nerazzurri enjoy a high UEFA coefficient thanks to their Champions League exploits last season. Simone Inzaghi’s men reached the final in Istanbul before suffering defeat at the hands of Man City.

The Italians are also on top of their group alongside Real Sociedad in this season’s edition.
