Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team did well to keep their heads and not grow impatient against Roma yesterday.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after the 1-0 Serie A win.

Inter got a massive win in the context of their Serie A title push against Roma yesterday evening.

The Nerazzurri had to wait until the closing stages to finally get their goal.

The Giallorossi held out well defensively, whilst Inter’s finishing was not quite up to par.

But eventually, it was striker Marcus Thuram who found the back of the net.

Midfielder Kristjan Asllani found wingback Federico Dimarco with a pinpoint long switch of play. And then, the Italian international played it into the area for Thuram.

And the 26-year-old former Borussia Monchenglabach striker made no mistake with his finish.

Combined with another clean sheet, this was enough to make sure that Inter finish this weekend at the top of the Serie A table.

Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi Happy With Composure In Serie A Win Vs Roma

After the match, Inzaghi said that “We were intense and kept our heads.”

“We never allowed them the pitch. The guys did brilliantly even when we lost the ball, and we took three important points.”

The coach stressed that “We kept our heads.”

“As the minutes passed, when the goal still wasn’t arriving, we could have become nervous,” Inzaghi observed.

“But we didn’t,” he added. “I’m very satisfied with this evening’s performance.”

And then Inzaghi also looks ahead to next weekend’s match against Atalanta.

The Nerazzurri coach said that “It will be an important and difficult match.”

“But all the matches are like that in the Italian league,” he went on.

“Atalanta are having an excellent season in both the league and the Europa League,” Inzaghi went on.

“But even beyond that match, we’ll have to recover a lot of physical and mental energy.”
