The agent of Argentina star and Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez is optimistic about contract extension talks with Inter Milan.

The 26-year-old’s agent Alejandro Camano spoke to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. He anticipated that there would be “no problems” and praised Inter’s project.

As things stand, Martinez’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2026.

The former Racing Club striker signed his current deal during the fall of 2021.

There may not be any panic to extend Martinez’s deal. But by all accounts, Inter want to do so sooner rather than later.

The Argentine has become a hugely important player for the Nerazzurri in his five seasons and counting at the club. This season he has begun wearing the captain’s armband.

Martinez has been Inter’s top scorer in each of the past two seasons.

And considering that the striker has already found the back of the net twelve times this season, it seems likely that he will do so again.

There has also been persistent transfer interest in Martinez. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have all targeted the Inter striker in the past couple transfer windows.

Barcelona and Manchester City have also chased Martinez during his time at the Nerazzurri.

Agent Of Lautaro Martinez Optimistic About Inter Contract Extension Talks

It therefore seems likely that Inter won’t wait too long to begin contract talks with Martinez and his representatives.

The Argentine’s agent Camano said that “We have a great relationship with the Nerazzurri.”

“And we’re talking about meeting to discuss an extension for Martinez,” he continued.

Camano made clear that “Inter want to extend Lautaro’s contract.”

“And we want to extend,” the agent further clarified.

“There won’t be any problems,” Camano optimistically predicted.

“We’ll meet to discuss it in the next few days or weeks.”

As for whether there is a specific date for a meeting, Martinez’s agent said “No, not yet.”

“We have to reach an agreement with Inter,” he said.

“But the important thing is that ther’s a willingness on both sides to sit down and discuss an extension.”

As far as whether or not a pay raise for Martinez will be a factor, Camano said that “We’re talking about a player who’s very important for Inter.”

“And this is a top club for Lautaro to be at.”

“It’s not just money that matters,” the Argentine’s agent made clear.

“The project, the sporting trajectory, what’s happening, the fact that everything is going well, how much Inter are growing in popularity is also important.”

“There are various factors,” Camano made very clear. “Lautaro is not just about money.”

“Lautaro also feels a connection to the club, a city that loves him and he loves him in return.”
