Inter Milan want to keep striker Marko Arnautovic in training during the upcoming November international break.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Striker Arnautovic has been out for a number of weeks with a thigh injury.

The 34-year-old picked up the problem in a Serie A match away to Empoli in September.

However, Arnautovic is now getting close to being able to make his return to the pitch.

It is not exactly certain when Arnautovic can be part of a matchday squad. Next Saturday’s match away to Atalanta may still be an optimistic return date.

But then there are also matches against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League, and Frosinone in Serie A.

Then Inter’s squad will disperse for the international break.

Inter Want To Keep Marko Arnautovic During International Break

Arnautovic will in all likelihood be part of a matchday squad for Inter before the November break.

How much the former West Ham United and Stoke City veteran will actually feature is another question.

So therefore, a call-up for the Austrian national team would be a realistic possibility for Arnautovic.

But according to Tuttosport, Inter are hoping that Arnautovic is not part of the Austria team over the break.

Rather, the Nerazzurri’s hope is that Arnautovic stays behind in training during the break.

Even though Arnautovic is getting closer and closer to fitness, he won’t just return at his best.

On the contrary, the 34-year-old will still need some time to build up fitness.

As such, Inter feel that the best thing for Arnautovic during the November break will be training and rest rather than travel and participation in international fixtures.

The Nerazzurri had convinced Colombia not to call up Juan Cuadrado during the October break for similar break.

And they will attempt to do the same with Austria and Arnautovic.
