Simone Inzaghi has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will start for Inter Milan against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.

The coach spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of tomorrow evening’s group stage clash.

So far this season, Sanchez has had to slowly work his way into the Inter team.

The Chilean arrived at the club without full match-fitness. Therefore, he had to work to regain physical condition before he could be a part of matchday squads.

There were some initial flashes of Sanchez’s quality, but also some flat performances.

Therefore, one or two questions arose about whether the Chilean had been the right player for Inter to sign in the summer to beef up their attacking depth.

But a couple weeks ago, Sanchez gave the clearest sign yet that he can contribute at something like his best in his second spell at Inter.

The Chilean made his second start of the season, against Red Bull Salzburg at the San Siro.

Sanchez scored the opening goal in a 2-1 Champions League group stage win.

And according to Sky, the 34-year-old will definitely start against the same opposition as well tomorrow.

Inzaghi Confirms Alexis Sanchez Will Start For Inter In UCL

As far as the attack in the starting eleven, Inzaghi said that “Sanchez will certainly start, because he’s doing well in training.”

“Then I’ll have to evaluate whether Lautaro or Thuram starts alongside him.”

“We’ve gotten Arnautovic back,” the coach noted.

“He’s already completed two training sessions. It’s important for us to have him back, and he’ll certainly give us a big hand.”

And as far as what he expects from tomorrow’s match, Inzaghi said that “Clearly we won’t be at the San Siro.”

“We’ll be playing in a stadium that I’ve already played at in the Europa League with Lazio. It’s an intense stadium.”

“And we’re also coming up against a team who’ve already demonstrated their quality at home,” he noted.

“Therefore we’ll have to be at our best.”
