The return of striker Marko Arnautovic makes it less likely that Inter Milan will dip into the transfer market in the January transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Inter have had to cope without Arnautovic for the past few weeks.

The Austrian picked up a thigh strain during the team’s Serie A win away to Empoli in September.

In the meantime, the Nerazzurri have had a lack of depth in the attacking positions.

Particularly with Alexis Sanchez not in the best of form, there has been little option but to start Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram in most matches.

Clearly, this has not been sustainable.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri have been holding their breath and waiting for Arnautovic to return.

And there had been suggestions that the club may intervene in the transfer market.

Marko Arnautovic Return Means It’s Less Likely Inter Sign A Striker In January

Inter declined to make an emergency free transfer signing to cover for Arnautovic whilst the 34-year-old recovered.

However, there is always January.

The Nerazzurri would have the chance to assess their options, and potentially bring in a player during the transfer window.

Porto’s Mehdi Taremi is the name that has been most strongly linked.

The Iranian’s contract with Porto runs out at the end of next June. Therefore, Inter are reportedly keen on a free transfer summer.

But, reports have suggested, the Nerazzurri may not wait that long.

Taremi could even be an option for January.

But now Arnautovic is back.

The Austrian is back in training and will be part of the squad to face Red Bull Salzburg tomorrow.

Therefore, Inter will have four attacking options again.

That makes it considerably less likely that there will be a decision to make an investment in the January window.
