Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta says that the club are very happy with the growth they’ve seen from their coach Simone Inzaghi.

The executive praised the coach in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

Inzaghi has now been Inter coach for two seasons and counting.

During that time, the former Lazio coach has guided Inter to two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies.

There was also, of course, last season’s run to the Champions League final.

That is glossing over some of the parts of Inzaghi’s tenure where the 47-year-old has been found wanting.

For one thing, there is Inter’s failure to win the Serie A title.

In Inzaghi’s first campaign in charge, the team missed out by the narrowest of margins to city rivals AC Milan.

Then last time around, a number of borderline catastrophic results in the league saw Inter finish miles behind champions Napoli in the Serie A table.

But overall, the trend has seemingly been positive under Inzaghi.

This time around, Inter have gotten off to a blazing start to the Serie A season. They have dropped just five points so far, having played eleven matches.

And in the Champions League, the Nerazzurri have the chance to make it three seasons in a row securing a place in the knockout rounds.

That is something neither Luciano Spalletti nor Antonio Conte managed even once.

Inter CEO Marotta Praises Simone Inzaghi

“We’re very happy,” Marotta said of Inzaghi as coach.

“We’ve noticed his growth.”

“He’s a good coach, he’s gaining experience – and that’s how he’ll get to the top.”

Marotta suggested of former Lazio coach Inzaghi that “He’s starting to acquire a winning mentality in Italy and in Europe.”

“He’s still in the category of young coaches, so he has room to grow and improve.”

“He’s a very good coach, we’re proud to have him with us.”
