Inter Milan will be scouting a number of young Red Bull Salzburg players in this evening’s Champions League clash.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who name striker Karim Konate and defender Samson Baidoo as particular targets for the Nerazzurri.
It is not secret that Red Bull Salzburg are a hotbed of young talent in European football.
The Austrian club’s MO has become regular appearances in the Champions League whilst giving a chance to talented youngsters, who they tend to sell on for a big profit.
As such, Europe’s big clubs keep a close eye on players in the Salzburg squad.
And Inter are no exception. The Nerazzurri will have one eye on a number of players for the Austrian champions.
Inter have a strong relationship with Salzburg. They have played the Austrians in a couple of friendly matches over the past twelve months.
And being drawn in the same Champions League group as Salzburg has given Inter a further opportunity to get an up-close view of some players in the Austrian champions’ squad.
Obviously Inter’s number-one objective this evening is securing a place in the knockouts with three points.
But at the same time, the Nerazzurri will be observing a number of players.
Inter To Scout Salzburg Duo Konate & Baidoo In Champions League Clash
There are two players on Inter’s radar who will not be on the pitch due to injury.
Young midfielder Maurits Kjaergaard is a target for both the Nerazzurri and their city rivals AC Milan. But the 20-year-old is out until 2024 with an injury.
Another player who will miss this evening’s match is defender Oumar Solet.
The Frenchman has been on Inter’s radar for a little while. He was among the players the Nerazzurri considered as a potential replacement for Milan Skriniar.
Torino have also held an interest in Solet for some time.
But the defender will not play this evening due to injury. Therefore, 19-year-old Austrian international Baidoo will play in his place.
And according to Tuttosport, Inter will be watching Baidoo carefully.
The teenager is a player the Nerazzurri consider a potentially suitable option to reinforce their defense for years to come.
And another young player who Inter are very keen on is 19-year-old Ivorian international Karim Konate.
Konate has been enjoying something of a breakout campaign.
And the Nerazzurri are keeping his name in mind given their attacking situation.
Inter will certainly have to make a signing in forward areas in the next couple transfer windows.
With veterans like Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic in the squad, the Nerazzurri’s priority could well be to bring in a player who still has plenty of room to grow.
And in his respect, Konate proves a natural target.
According to Tuttosport, Inter will be following Konate’s performance closely this evening.
The 19-year-old didn’t start in the reverse match at the San Siro. But he should be on the pitch from the first minute this evening.
