Former Inter Milan striker Aldo Serena feels that Lautaro Martinez is on the “podium” of current strikers – along with Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.

Serena praised the Argentine in an interview published in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Martinez’s successful penalty against Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday means that the Inter captain has now found the back of the net fourteen times this season.

These numbers are eye-watering – considering it’s still mid-November – even by the 26-year-old’s standards

So far this season Martinez isn’t just on pace to be Inter’s top scorer again.

The former Racing Club striker appears the favourite to also lead the scoring charts in Serie A.

And in Europe as a whole, few other strikers are able to keep pace with the Nerazzurri captain.

There’s Manchester City striker Haaland. The Norwegian is one goal ahead of Martinez, with fifteen.

And Harry Kane is some way ahead. The Englishman has enjoyed life at Bayern Munich since his summer transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane’s match-winning brace against Galatasaray takes his total for the season to nineteen.

Aldo Serena: Lautaro Martinez On “Podium” With Harry Kane & Erling Haaland

Ex-Inter, AC Milan, and Juventus striker Serena gave his thoughts on who the top strikers are in Europe at the moment.

“First of all I would narrow the field to actual centre-forwards,” he said.

“Haaland is at the top,” Serena argued. “The best and most complete in terms of his characteristics.”

“Next to him I’d put Kane and Lautaro,” he noted.

“Then there are the likes of Mbappe, Bellingham, Vinicius, Salah and so on. But they play in a different way.”

And as far as ex-Inter and current Roma striker Romelu Lukaku, Serena excluded him.

“He’s not young anymore,” the former striker said of the Belgian. “He’s missed his chance to be in the top three in Eruope.”
