Lautaro Martinez has secured around €70 million in revenues for Inter Milan with his penalty against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

It’s job done for Inter as far as reaching the Champions League knockout rounds is concerned.

The Nerazzurri still have the chance to do so by finishing top of their group. This would be both a financial boost as well as potentially giving the team an easier tie in the next round.

But in terms of revenues, just reaching the knockouts represents a big step.

Participation in the round of sixteen will be worth around €10 million to Inter.

Adding the result bonus and also the stadium gate receipt revenues for the next round, the Nerazzurri bring about €20 million into their coffers in total.

And they left it late against Salzburg.

It took a Martinez penalty in the closing stages to wrap up a 1-0 win over the Austrian champions. But the Inter captain made no mistake and secured they key revenues for his team.

Lautaro Martinez Penalty Vs Salzburg Worth More Than Just Champions League Revenues To Inter

But as the Corriere notes, Martinez’s successful penalty didn’t just earn Inter a place in the Champions League knockouts.

The three points against Salzburg were also important for securing the team’s entry into another competition.

It has looked for some time like a spot in the Club World Cup was all but inevitable for Inter.

But prior to Wednesday, the Nerazzurri had not mathematically secured it.

Now, it is a different story. Inter will definitely be one of the twelve European teams competing at the FIFA competition in the United States in 2025.

And that will be worth around €50 million for Inter.

So for the Corriere, when Martinez buried his penalty late in Austria, he brought €70 million in revenues to his club with it.
