Both Inter Milan and Juventus are keen to sign Monza midfielder Andrea Colpani.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Brianzoli have slapped a €20 million price tag on the 24-year-old.

One long-term target that Inter are still searching for in the transfer market is a “sixth” midfielder.

During the summer, the Nerazzurri had looked close to securing the signature of Udinese’s Lazar Samardzic.

That deal broke down in controversial circumstances.

This led to Inter instead investing in Benjamin Pavard in defense. And for the midfield, they brought back Stefano Sensi and signed Davy Klaassen as shorter-term options.

But Inter’s attempt to sign Samardzic made clear the kind of profile that the club are after.

The Nerazzurri want a left-sided box-to-box midfielder. And the idea is to sign a player with creative and goalscoring abilities from midfield.

Moreover, Inter want a young player.

Whilst the experienced Klaassen was brought in to plug a gap, Inter want to eventually sign a midfielder who has the prospects to grow into the team, from a rotation option to a starting-quality player.

Inter & Juventus Both Want Andrea Colpani

Colpani is very much a player who checks these boxes for Inter.

The 24-year-old has been Monza’s outstanding player at the start of this season.

Last campaign was one with signs of future promise for the former Atalanta midfielder. This time around he is a key man for the Brianzoli.

So far Colpani has chipped in with five goals in Serie A.

This is a testament to the 24-year-old’s ability to make attacking runs and his composure in the penalty area.

Moreover, Colpani also provides plenty of creativity from midfield.

The midfielder’s form has earned him a call-up to Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad.

And the interest from big clubs is not far behind.

Inter have made Colpani a major target. But the Nerazzurri’s main competition for the newly-minted Azzurri star’s future could be represented by the current rivals for the Serie A title.

Juventus will certainly be looking to beef up their midfield at the first opportunity.

And the Bianconeri have also taken a strong interest in Colpani, FCIN report.

And Monza are hoping to cash in given this interest from some of Serie A’s heavy hitters.

According to FCIN, the Brianzoli believe that they can collect no less than €20 million from Colpani’s sale.
