Football fans are in for a treat later this month, as Juventus and Inter Milan go head-to-head on the first weekend after the international break.
The Nerazzurri head into the game two points ahead of Juventus at the top of the standings, with AC Milan a further six points adrift in third place.
Reigning champions Napoli are another two points behind Milan in fourth spot and are struggling to keep pace with the leading teams this season.
Juventus briefly leapfrogged Inter in the table on Saturday, courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Cagliari. However, Inter recorded a 2-0 win against Frosinone to regain top spot the following day.
Juventus vs Inter Milan – Latest Betting
Online bookmakers still rate Inter as the favourites to win the title, with 4/6 the best odds you’re likely to find on betting sites that cover Serie A.
By contrast, Juventus are priced at around 11/4 to claim top spot, although a couple of online sportsbooks are offering 5/1 on them achieving the feat.
Although their trip to Turin on November 26 will not be easy, the bookies rate Inter as 5/4 favourites to win the game while Juventus are priced at 5/2.
The value bet could be the draw at 5/2, with both sides likely to be eager to keep things tight in a fixture that could have a big bearing on the title race.
Inter Set for Tough Test in Turin
Inter had little difficulty moving back to the top of Serie A, with goals by Federico Dimarco and a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty enough to defeat Frosinone.
Dimarco’s effort was the highlight of the game, with his long-range lob over goalkeeper Stefano Turati likely to win the Goal of the Season Award with ease.
Calhanoglu’s penalty early in the second half gave Inter some breathing space and they saw out the rest of the game with minimal fuss.
Juventus scored twice in the second half to beat Cagliari 2-1 in Turin, with Gleison Bremer and Daniele Rugani getting on the scoresheet before Alberto Dossena pulled one back for Cagliari.
The visitors pushed for a late equaliser, but Juventus remained resolute in defence and hauled themselves over the line for a valuable victory.
With other potential contenders struggling to produce their best form, the road appears to be clear for Inter and Juventus to battle for this season’s Serie A crown.
While there are still plenty of games to be played, their clash at the Allianz Stadium could go a long way in determining the outcome of the title race.
How The Juventus Vs Inter Milan Clash Will Impact The Title Race
A victory for Inter would move them five points clear of Juventus. This would be a sizeable gap given how consistent they have been up to this point.
However, a draw or a Juventus win would keep the battle close and also open the door for the chasing pack to claw back the current deficit.
Juve will feel they have an advantage over Inter in this season’s title race. Their absence from European competitions allows them to focus solely on the league.
By contrast, Inter have already booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League, meaning they will face a busier schedule as the season progresses.
Comparing Juventus & Inter Milan Stats
As befits the top two teams in Serie A, there is little to choose between Inter and Juventus on paper heading into their latest encounter.
Inter are a more potent attacking force than their title rivals. They have a tally of 29 goals in 12 games. This is a whopping ten more than Juve have netted this season.
The two teams have similar defensive records, with Inter conceding just six goals and Juventus seven during the current campaign.
Juve will look to hit Inter on the counter-attack despite having home advantage, particularly given that a draw would keep them in touch with the table-toppers.
Intriguingly, Juventus completed the double over Inter last season, winning 2-0 at home in December and following up with a 1-0 road win in March.
However, Simone Inzaghi’s side gained their revenge in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. They recorded a 2-1 aggregate victory to book their place in the final.
Inter subsequently lifted that trophy by beating Fiorentina before narrowly coming up short against Manchester City in the Champions League final.
Having made several noteworthy moves during the summer transfer window, Inter have been in fine form during the early part of this season.
Their only blips in the league were a home defeat against Sassuolo in September and a draw with Bologna at the San Siro during the following month.
Juve’s solitary defeat was also against Sassuolo. Moreover, Atalanta and Bologna have taken one point apiece off Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
Juventus vs Inter Milan Prediction: With both sides in excellent form this season, backing a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium could pay dividends.
