Monza midfielder Andrea Colpani feels that Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni has been a friend for his whole life.

The 24-year-old spoke about his relationship with the Nerazzurri defender in an interview with the Italian national team’s official social media channel, via FCInter1908.

This has proven to be a breakout season for Colpani at Monza.

The midfielder has already notched six goals for the Brianzoli. This means that he is their top scorer so far in Serie A.

And Colpani has also assisted an additional goal.

Naturally, that form has attracted plenty of speculation about Colpani’s future.

First, there is the question of a possible transfer to a bigger club.

It does not look likely that Monza will be able to hold on to their young star for too much longer.

Andrea Colpani On Friendship With Alessandro Bastoni

Inter are certainly one of the teams who have a strong interest in signing Colpani

The Nerazzurri are building a team with a core of young Italian players.

And the 24-year-old would certainly be a similar kind of signing to Davide Frattesi during the summer just gone in that respect.

Inter already have six players who are part of the Italian international squad during the break.

And in Colpani, they could add a seventh – the Monza midfielder received his first Azzurri call-up this week.

And with the Italy squad, the 24-year-old has found one particularly familiar face.

Inter defender Bastoni is a player who Colpani has known for many years now.

Both of the duo were part of the Atalanta youth team setup.

And there have been suggestions that Bastoni could be a factor in Inter’s favour as they try to win the race for Colpani’s signature.

After all, the two Italians don’t just have history together on the pitch. They are also friends off of it.

“Bastoni immediately welcomed me into the squad,” Colpani said of his first time as an Italy international.

“I’ve been friends with him for my entire life,” he went on.

“His wedding was very unique. It was a three-day wedding, and each day was different.”

The Monza and Italy midfielder reminisced that “Those were three incredible, special days.”
