Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni will be out for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Juventus.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. Sky anticipate that it would take a “miracle” for the 24-year-old to be fit to face the Bianconeri, but that he could be back against Napoli.

Yesterday Bastoni picked up an injury whilst training with the Italian national team.

There had been questions about the severity of the problem.

And as far as the recovery timeline for the 24-year-old, the big question naturally concerns more than just his availability for upcoming international fixtures.

Italy face North Macedonia and Ukraine in EURO 2024 qualifiers. Bastoni will not be part of these matches, as he’s left the Italy training camp.

Therefore Azzurri coach Luciano Spalletti has called up Roma defender Gianluca Mancini in Bastoni’s place.

But there’s also the matter of a very important club fixture on the horizon.

Alessandro Bastoni Out For Juventus Vs Inter Clash – Could Be Back For Napoli

The had initially been some hope that Bastoni had only picked up some slight muscular fatigue.

But that does not look to be the case. On the contrary, medical tests confirm that the 24-year-old has suffered a full-on muscle strain.

And that is a big problem for Inter in view of their upcoming Serie A match against Juventus.

Naturally, the Derby d’Italia between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconmeri is always one of the most eagerly-anticipated match of both teams’ seasons.

Moreover, that match will pit first against second in the Serie A table. Therefore, it has the air of a potential title-decider.

Both teams will surely be aiming to put out as strong a team as possible for that match.

And it looks as though Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have to do without a key starter.

Sky report that the recovery timeline for Bastoni’s injury makes it virtually certain that he will still be out with the injury for the Derby d’Italia after the break.

As far as when Bastoni could return, the broadcaster suggest that the defender could be back for the Serie A match away to Napoli in the subsequent weekend.
