Between Piotr Zielinski, Mehdi Taremi, and Tiago Djalo, Inter Milan are looking to strengthen in several areas of the pitch with free transfers.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Free transfers have been a pillar of Inter’s transfer strategy for some time now.
The Nerazzurri have had to be creative in the transfer market due to financial limitations.
And the arrival of Beppe Marotta as CEO in 2018 was always likely to orient Inter towards looking for opportunities to sign players whose contracts are expiring.
The veteran football executive has spent his career utilizing these kinds of opportunities. He had done so for the better part of a decade at Juventus, to great effect.
And Marotta’s track record of targeting free transfers to bolster the squad has continued at Inter.
The likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Marcus Thuram have all arrived via this route. And all have been vital players so far this season.
But Marotta and Inter aren’t done yet. Far from it.
Zielinski, Taremi, Djalo – Inter Want Free Transfers All Over The Pitch
In the upcoming summer transfer window, Tuttosport report that Inter are looking at free transfer opportunities all through the spine of the team.
First there’s the attack. The age and contract situations of Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic mean that a signing in the striker position will be likely.
And Porto’s Mehdi Taremi is a player who Inter have been following for some time.
The club see Taremi as having the ideal profile to bolster their attack.
A January signing of the Iranian would also be possible, if Porto lower their asking price in consideration of his soon-to-expire contract.
But alternatively, Inter could wait for Taremi’s deal to run out.
Then they could land the striker without a transfer fee next summer.
In midfielder, Tuttosport report that Inter’s interest in Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski is very real.
The 29-year-old Polish international would represent a rare opportunity.
Zielinski is a Serie A title winner last season. The Pole has bags of Serie A experience, with over three hundred appearances in the Italian top flight whilst playing for Napoli, Udinese, and Empoli.
And, just like Taremi, Zielinski’s contract currently expires at the end of next June.
Lastly, Tuttosport report, Inter are also aiming for a free transfer signing in defense.
Lille defender Tiago Dajlo is a player who the Nerazzurri have been targeting for a while, as with Taremi.
An injury prevented Inter from going for Djalo this past summer. But he is very much on the Nerazzurri’s radar for next summer – and the Portuguese’s contract situation at Lille makes him all the more enticing as a target.,
