Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is back in training for Inter Milan as of yesterday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that Italian and Albanian internationals will soon follow.

There was a slight scare regarding the potential unavailability of Calhanoglu for Inter’s Serie A match against Juventus over the weekend.

This was the result of the Turk suffering from illness.

Calhanoglu was feeling flu-like symptoms. This meant that he missed out on training with the Turkish national team, of whom he was captain, and played no part in their matches during the break.

But Calhanoglu was back in training yesterday.

There is essentially no doubt that the 29-year-old former AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, and Hamburg midfielder will be ready for Sunday’s match against Juventus.

That is certainly important for Inter. Calhanoglu has been a key man in the engine room for the Nerazzurri all season.

And Sunday’s match against the Bianconeri could well be a title-decider.

Not Just Hakan Calhanoglu – Italy Internationals Also Return To Training For Inter

Five Italian internationals will join Calhanoglu and the players who stayed behind during the break today.

Matteo Darmian, Francesco Acerbi, Nicolo Barella, Federico Dimarco, and Davide Frattesi all helped the Azzurri qualify for EURO 2024 during the break.

Meanwhile, Alessandro Bastoni is out with a thigh injury. The 24-year-old played no part for Italy during the break, and will also miss Sunday’s match against Juventus.

And Albanian international Kristjan Asllani will also be back today.

Then, Dutch duo Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij will soon follow.

Tomorrow, the likes of Brazilian Carlos Augusto and Argentine Lautaro Martinez will be back from international duty.

And Alexis Sanchez will join the squad on Friday. The 34-year-old’s last match of the international break is for Chile against Ecuador, and the lack of a direct return flight will necessitate a last-minute return for him.
