Juventus legend Andrea Barzagli waxes lyrical about Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi ahead of this Sunday’s Derby d’Italia.
The 2006 World Cup winner was a stalwart at the back for the Bianconeri between 2011 and 2018. He represented one-third of the famous “BBC” defensive trio alongside Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini.
The Tuscan expects Juventus and Inter to fight for the Scudetto title until the very end.
“We have now reached the third of the championship, however, the table says that Juventus and Inter are the most consistent,” notes Barzagli in his appearance on DAZN via FcInterNews.
“The two clubs will fight until the end. While it’s still early days, this one is always a direct clash.
“Bringing home the three points will be very important from a psychological point of view.”
The 42-year-old predicts how the match will pan out. He expects Inter to maintain a balanced approach and Juventus to play on the counter.
“Inter have the best attack and the best defense. They create many chances and defend in an attentive and organized way.
“We all know Juventus. The defensive phase is their strength, even if up front they have unpredictable players capable of deciding matches.
“I’m curious to see the first 10 minutes. Neither of them should be in a hurry to score, risking losing their balance.
“I think the Nerazzurri will have their usual attitude, without getting distorted. Juve could wait, picking the right moment to bite.”
Former Juventus Defender Andrea Barzagli Proclaims Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi As Top Manager
Barzagli also heaps praise of the highest order on Inzaghi, describing him as a top manager.
“Massimiliano has more experience, obviously due to his age, but both have won important trophies.
“Simone offers organized football, with a good attacking phase. They are formidable in managing the group.
“Inzaghi is already an absolutely top manager. He has demonstrated it with his results in recent years.
“Winning the Scudetto this season would be further confirmation of his status.”
