Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta is completely confident regarding the prospective contract extension of captain Lautaro Martinez.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of this evening’s match against Juventus, via FCInterNews, Marotta also suggested that the Bianconeri are the favourites for the Serie A title.

The contract situation of striker Martinez at Inter has been in the news in recent weeks.

The Argentine still has more than two years left to run on his deal. His contract expires at the end of June 2026.

But by all indications, Inter want to tie Martinez down to a new contract anyway.

The 26-year-old is a vital player for Inter. He has been the club’s top scorer in each of the past two seasons, and is well on track to do so a third campaign in a row.

Moreover, Martinez is also a player whose loyalty Inter would want to ensure.

The Argentine is a player with no shortage of suitors were he to become available.

Premier League teams Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have all targeted the Nerazzurri striker in the recent past.

Inter CEO Marotta Condifent About Lautaro Martinez Contract Extension

Martinez’s agent has also expressed confidence that the striker will stay at Inter and sign a new contract.

Marotta responded, saying that “Those words from him are important.”

“When a player clearly expresses his preference and the club management are on the same page as far as ambitions, I don’t believe that there will be any problems,” he continued.

As for whether he considers Juventus favourites for the Serie A title, even if Inter win this evening’s Derby d’Italia, Marotta said “Absolutely, yes.”

“”Then there are also other teams in the running,” he added.

“Napoli are also moving up the table, and Milan and Roma are also right in it. It will be the usual 6-7 sisters.”
