Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer feels that the team played a very “tactical” match in their 1-1 Serie A draw against Juventus this evening.
The keeper spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the match, via FCInterNews.
Both Inter and Juventus seemed to have each other at arm’s length this evening at the Allianz Stadium.
The Nerazzurri were the team with the majority of possession. But there were few scoring chances for Simone Inzaghi’s team apart from the one from which they found the back of the net.
And the Bianconeri looked to counterattack ruthlessly when Inter gave the ball away.
But it was not as lethal-looking as is usual from Max Allegri’s team on the break.
Instead, both teams seemed to have clear answers for one another.
Whatever Inzaghi and Allegri wanted to do to unlock the match, the other anticipated and was able to stop.
This gave the match a very tight feel. Perhaps this was inevitable given the stakes in a match that saw the two Derby d’Italia rivals begin the match two points apart at the top of the table.
Inter Keeper Yann Sommer: “Tactical” Match Vs Juventus
Nerazzurri keeper Sommer conceded for the seventh time this season in Serie A.
There was truthfully little that the Swiss international could have done to keep Dusan Vlahovic’s effort just before the half-hour from finding its way to the back of the net.
But after that, there was not much for Sommer to do.
And it was more or less the same story for Juventus keeper Wojcjech Szczesny at the other end after Lautaro Martinez’s equalizer for Inter.
Sommer gave his reaction after the match.
“It was a tactical match,” the Swiss said.
“Juve defend well,” he went on. “They concede little.”
“We scored a brilliant goal,” the Inter keeper continued.
“In the second half we had a lot of possession, and there were a lot of interruptions.”
Sommer noted that “There are still a lot of matches left to go.”
“The favourite for the title is whichever team continues to play the way that we have been,” he said.
“We have to keep building step by step,” the 34-year-old said.
