Inter Milan forward Alexis Sanchez is rapidly approaching fitness in view of Wednesday’s Champions League match away to Benfica.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. Sky anticipate that tomorrow will be the day for a decision on whether or not the Chilean can be part of the squad.

Sanchez was one of three Inter players who was not in the squad for yesterday’s Serie A match away to Juventus due to injury, along with defenders Alessandro Bastoni and Benjamin Pavard.

The 34-year-old has not been carrying a serious injury.

However, Sanchez had picked up a minor ankle sprain during international duty.

He also had returned late from the international break. Sanchez was only back in Inter training on Friday.

Therefore, the former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona veteran was not in condition to train ahead of yesterday’s match or play any part, even from the bench.

But Sanchez has been working on individual training in the past few days.

And a return to the pitch does not look far away.

Alexis Sanchez Close To Returning Ahead Of Benfica Clash

Sanchez spent yesterday working individually in training rather than travelling to Turin with the rest of the squad.

And the Chilean has continued his personalized work today.

Sanchez has not yet made a full return to training with the rest of his teammates.

But that no longer seems to be far away at all.

On the contrary, Sky reports, the pace that Sanchez is now training at individually is close to a full pace.

Therefore, in the next day or two the 34-year-old will be ready to return to full training.

But the timeline does not exactly favour Sanchez.

Inter are only a couple days away from their match away to Benfica.

Therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have to decide on whether Sanchez will part of the squad for that match tomorrow.
