Lautaro Martinez has been named as the best Inter Milan player in the Nerazzurri’s 1-1 Serie A draw with Juventus.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport give the Argentine a score of 7/10 in the player ratings for the match in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews. That’s higher than any other Inter player.

Inter slogged their way through a tough and cagey match against their great Derby d’Italia rivals Juventus yesterday.

Both sets of players looked to be feeling the significance of the occasion.

Therefore, a moment of real quality was needed in order to break through.

For Juventus, that came from striker Dusan Vlahovic. The former Fiorentina striker slotted home the Bianconeri’s opener after some excellent linkup play with Federico Chiesa.

And it was up to Inter’s strikers to respond in kind.

Martinez and Marcus Thuram did just that. And it was the former who really stepped up, in the view of the Gazzetta.

Lautaro Martinez Named As Best Inter Player In Draw Vs Juventus

Martinez had a tough match up against a Juventus backline that were allowing very little space and time in which to operate.

In the first half hour of the match, the Inter captain barely got a touch of the ball.

But Martinez proved that he doesn’t need much to be lethal.

The 26-year-old showed his poacher’s instinct to get the wrong side of Bianconeri defender Federico Gatti as his striker partner Thuram lined up a cross into the box.

And from there, Martinez had to be unerring with his finish.

The Argentine took it first time. He slotted the ball past Juventus keeper Wojcjech Szczesny.

As the match wore on, Martinez seemed to drop a few yards deeper.

This allowed the Inter captain to have more of an effect on proceedings.

In the view of the Gazzetta, Martinez was not just Inter’s difference-maker in terms of his goals.

The very in-form striker was the player who gave the Nerazzurri their spark on a night that was sorely lacking it by and large.
