Max Allegri is staying very coy on the Serie A title race between Juventus and Inter Milan.

The Bianconeri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster RAI Sport, via FCInterNews, following yesterday evening’s Derby d’Italia draw.

Juventus and Inter each had the opportunity to make a big statement in the Serie A title race yesterday.

But the first Serie A clash between the two of the season ended in a stalemate.

Particularly as the second half of the match wore on, it looked clear that neither team had any intention of risking a mistake.

Therefore, the status quo at the top of the table was preserved.

Inter are two points ahead of their great Derby d’Italia rivals.

In the buildup to yesterday’s match, naturally much of the talk focused around the title race.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has insisted that Juventus are favourites. Meanwhile Bianconeri coach Allegri has not hid his view that he considers the Nerazzurri the favourites.

Naturally there are a lot of mind games between the camps of the two clubs.

Yesterday’s match will not necessarily have provided fodder to prove either man right or wrong.

And for his part, Juventus coach Allegri is sticking to his view. He feels that it’s premature for the Bianconeri to really start dreaming about the title.

Allegri Coy On Juventus Serie A Title Hopes After Inter Draw

As far as the title race goes, Allegri said that “Inter are more prepared for it.”

“Because the squad depth, their ages, what we’ve seen from the matches they’ve played.”

“At the moment they’re more prepared for it in the way that Juve had been in previous seasons, when they in fact ended up winning it,” he said.

As far as Inter aiming for the title, Allegri said “It’s right for them to have that as their goal.”

“We must always work to grow and not just stay in place,” he said.

“They have to aim for glory. For us, that would be finishing top four.”

“My ambition is the same as the team’s. But we have to work in a calm, balanced way.”

And as far as whether he had hoped to overtake Inter in the table yesterday, Allegri replied. “No, absolutely not.”

“Because it wouldn’t have changed anything,” the Juventus coach said. “And maybe it even would have even hurt us.”
