Defender Benjamin Pavard could be back from injury in time for next month’s Serie A clash between Lazio and Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Pavard is still recovering from the knee injury that he sustained during a Serie A match against Atalanta at the start of November.

Yesterday brought good news for the Frenchman.

Pavard was able to remove the protective knee brace that he had been wearing following the injury.

This means that the 27-year-old former Bayern Munich and Stuttgart defender is able to start working on rebuilding his fitness.

Of course, this does not mean that a return to the pitch is imminent for Pavard.

The Frenchman still must spend some time rehabilitating. His knee injury has not fully healed, and building up match fitness will take some time.

But a recovery is now well and truly on the horizon for Pavard.

Benjamin Pavard Could Be Back In Time For Lazio Vs Inter Clash

Pavard has already missed some key matches for Inter.

These included Sunday evening’s 1-1 Serie A draw away to Juventus.

The Frenchman will also certainly miss out on next weekend’s league match away to champions Napoli.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri will still have to contend without Pavard for at least one more top-of-the-table clash amid their packed fixture list.

And the absence of Alessandro Bastoni didn’t help. The 24-year-old also missed Sunday’s trip to Turin with a calf problem.

But Bastoni will be back soon – potentially against Napoli.

And Pavard may not be too long to follow the Italian international.

The ex-Bayern man, who joined Inter in August, could be back as soon as the match against Lazio on December 17th.

That would certainly be a big boost for Inter in terms of defensive depth.

The defensive options have looked thin on the ground for the Nerazzurri of late. But they could have a full complement to call upon soon.
