Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto feels that beating Benfica won’t be easy, but the team are motivated to top their Champions League group.

The Brazilian spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, ahead of tomorrow’s group stage match in Lisbon.

Inter will feel that the pressure if off somewhat tomorrow, undoubtedly.

By securing their spot in the knockout rounds with a couple matches left to go, the Nerazzurri have allowed themselves to focus on Serie A somewhat.

But that hardly means that there is nothing left to fight for.

On the contrary. Inter will still be aiming to finish top of their group.

Beyond the pride of finishing top of the pile, this would also confer a potential advantage for the round of sixteen.

Given the kinds of teams who are likely to top the other groups, including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Manchester City, Inter would certainly be keen to face a team who finish runners-up.

And at the moment, Inter are level on points with Real Sociedad at the top of their own group.

And La Real showed in their opener against Inter that they are a formidable side. So there is still every reason for Inter to want to take three points against Benfica tomorrow.

Of coming up against Benfica winger Angel Di Maria, Augusto said that “We know that there are players who’ve made football history. Absolutely top players.”
