Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck feels that the Nerazzurri made up for their abysmal first half with a strong second against Benfica.
The German spoke to InterTV after the 3-3 thriller, via FCInterNews.
Bisseck didn’t have an easy time in his second ever start for Inter.
Starting on his 23rd birthday, the German and his teammates looked shellshocked as they allowed Benfica to score three goals in the first half.
It was ironically former Inter midfielder Joao Mario who scored the hattrick.
This made it look very unlikely that Inter would get anything from the match.
But in the second half, the Nerazzurri responded.
Even though scoring three goals without reply always looked like a very difficult match, Inter still did everything to play their way back into it, even if just to preserve some pride and morale.
Bisseck and his teammates did that – and then some.
The Nerazzurri staged an improbable comeback.
This was exactly the note that the team would want to head into their Serie A match against Napoli on the weekend on.
And it leaves the Nerazzurri on course to top their group with the right result against Real Sociedad.
Inter Defender Yann Bisseck: Fixed Things In Second Half Vs Benfica
“We didn’t get into the match in the opening minutes,” Bisseck admitted.
“I don’t know why,” he went on.
“It definitely wasn’t because of the squad rotation. Maybe it was just a psychological issue.”
“But whatever went wrong in the first half, we fixed it in the second,” Bisseck said.
“This is football. Sometimes that happens.”
As far as how the team got back into the match, Bisseck said that “You just have to think it’s not over.”
“It’s all a question of not wanting to lose .”
The 23-year-old said that “At halftime we were all angry.”
“And we went out onto the pitch with a desire not to have the result stay like that, to turn it around.”
