Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni will be back in training within the next couple days.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it. The Gazzetta anticipate that the 24-year-old will be back in training either tomorrow or on Wednesday.

Bastoni has now been out of action for three matches for Inter.

The matches that the Italian international, missed were important ones.

Having been out for two key EURO 2024 qualifiers with Italy during the break, the former Parma and Atalanta defender also missed two massive top-of-the-table clashes for Inter.

The Nerazzurri didn’t necessarily miss Bastoni too much during matches against Juventus and Napoli.

In the match away to Juventus, Inter played out a cagey draw.

Then yesterday against Napoli Inter snatched an emphatic 3-0 victory.

This was hardly a bad haul from the sequence of fixtures.

But yesterday against Napoli, Inter lost Stefan de Vrij to injury.

It is not yet certain when the Dutchman will be able to return. He will undergo medical tests tomorrow that should shed more light on his recovery timeline.

Inter Defender Alessandro Bastoni To Return To Training Tomorrow Or Wednesday

De Vrij leaving the pitch yesterday means that Inter had to play the majority of the match with Carlos Augusto playing out of position in the backline.

That was a testament to just how much the current injury crisis is stretching the Nerazzurri’s backline thin.

That may not have proven to be too much of a problem yesterday. But there is a sense that Inter cannot hold out much longer the way that things are going.

Therefore, the prospect of Bastoni being back will be a very welcome one for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.

According to the Gazzetta, there is little question that the 24-year-old will be back in time for next Saturday’s match against Udinese.

The newspaper anticipates that Bastoni will be back in full training either tomorrow or Wednesday.

That should give the Italian plenty of time to prepare for the weekend’s match.
