Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis faces a potential ban after his angry remarks following yesterday’s loss to Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino, via FCInterNews, who report that the Partenopei President ranted angrily in the tunnel as he vented his fury with refereeing decisions.

De Laurentiis made no effort to hide his emotions as it became clear that his team were falling to a fourth Serie A defeat of the season yesterday.

In the second half, the Napoli President had seen enough. He left the stands angrily with the Partenopei trailing 0-2.

The real source of De Laurentiis’s anger was not his team’s performance, however.

Rather, the Napoli President felt that the refereeing decisions had hurt his team.

According to Il Mattino, De Laurentiis instructed Partenopei Sporting Director Mauro Meluso to explicitly blame the refereeing for Napoli’s loss.

There were a couple moments in particular that the Partenopei felt aggrieved by.

Firstly, there was the fact that Inter’s opening goal stood despite what Napoli saw as an attacking foul in the buildup.

Then there was Napoli’s second half penalty appeal. Neither Davide Massa nor the VAR awarded a spot kick for a Francesco Acerbi tackle on Victor Osimhen.

De Laurentiis Rages After Napoli Loss To Inter

According to Il Mattino, De Laurentiis’s fury hardly subsided after he left the stands.

The newspaper reports that there were some heated comments from the Napoli President in the tunnel of the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Moreover, the famously outspoken Napoli President has also called both the Italian FA and the Italian Refereeing Association to seek explanations.

De Laurentiis feels that Massa’s refereeing was a “disaster.” And he has complained about it to all who will listen.

Now, according to Il Mattino, the Napoli President could risk a sanction.

Should the authorities find De Laurentiis’s comments and behaviour to be out of line, he could receive a stadium ban.
