Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram is pleased with Sunday evening’s Serie A victory away to Napoli.
The Frenchman spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.
Inter got one of the biggest results of their season so far on Sunday away to Napoli.
The Nerazzurri were travelling to the hope of the reigning champions of Italy.
The Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is a stadium in which Inter had won just once in the past seventeen visits.
The last time that Inter had won a Serie A match in Naples came in 2020.
Therefore, it was clearly not going to be an easy task for the Nerazzurri to get a victory.
And the pressure was high, considering that Juventus had gone temporarily ahead of Inter with their league win over Monza two days earlier.
But Inter did not crumple under the pressure. Far from it, the Nerazzurri produced exactly the kind of performance that they needed to to take three points.
At the back, Inter were solid. Both in terms of the individual performances from the defenders and keeper Yann Sommer, and in terms of the overall defensive effort by the team as a whole.
This allowed Inter to keep a clean sheet. That is becoming a real habit for the Nerazzurri this season.
And then at the other end, Inter’s finishing was clinical.
It was Thuram who rounded off the victory with Inter’s third goal late in the match.
Inter Striker Marcus Thuram: Three Important Points Vs Napoli
Thuram said of travelling to the Maradona that it’s “A beautiful stadium.”
“I hadn’t experienced it before. But my teammates told me about it.”
“It was a beautiful match in a beautiful stadium,” the Inter striker said.
As far as the message that the win sent to the rest of the league, Thuram said “I don’t know. We got three important points. We want to keep going like this.”
Of what he’s noticed about this Inter group, Thuram said “All the players love being around one another.”
“That’s always a great thing to see.”
