Wingback Carlos Augusto feels very proud of being able to play for Inter Milan.

The former Monza man spoke in the official matchday programme for this evening’s Serie A clash between the Nerazzurri and Udinese.

Over the summer, Augusto joined Inter from fellow Lombard club Monza.

The Brazilian had enjoyed three seasons of significant growth wearing the Brianzoli shirt.

This had culminated with Augusto’s starring role last season – his and Monza’s first ever season in Serie A.

The 24-year-old showed no signs of difficulty adjusting to life in the top flight.

Far from it, Augusto shone in Serie A. He scored six goals and made five assists from the wingback position.

This was enough to earn Augusto a move to Inter.

The Nerazzurri brought the wingback in as backup and competition for Federico Dimarco on the left flank, following the departure of Robin Gosens who joined Union Berlin.

And Augusto has enjoyed a strong start to the season.

Naturally the Brazilian hasn’t always started matches. It would not be easy to displace a player like Dimarco from the team.

But the 24-year-old has had his chances, both from the start and from the bench.

This has been enough to earn Augusto his first several call-ups to the Brazilian national team.

And Augusto also showed his versatility last weekend. He was called into action in defense against Napoli in the midst of an injury crisis at the back, and helped Inter to keep a clean sheet.

Carlos Augusto: An Honour To Represent Inter

Augusto said that “Inter are an absolutely top-level team.”

“It’s an honour to wear this shirt,” he continued.

The Brazilian noted that “Many world-class players have passed through this club.”

He named several of his countrymen from throughout the Nerazzurri’s history.

Augusto said that “Ronaldo was devastating. He’s the player who inspired me.”

“And then there was also Roberto Carlos. He was an incredible player in my position.”
