Defender Benjamin Pavard is not far away from returning to the pitch from injury for Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper note that the Frenchman was heavily involved in the celebrations for yesterday’s win over Udinese.

A return is now definitively on the horizon for former Bayern Munich defender Pavard.

The 2018 World Cup winner has been working individually on his fitness without a protective knee brace for more than a week now.

Pavard is still a little ways away from being able to return to full training.

But the feeling now is that that will not be far away.

The Frenchman’s progress in terms of building up fitness is right on schedule. Therefore, Pavard should be ready to train with the rest of his teammates within the next week or so.

Benjamin Pavard Nearing Return From Injury For Iner

The timeline for Pavard’s return is not exactly certain down to the day, however.

The Frenchman did not have a part to play against Udinese yesterday evening.

And it does not look likely that Pavard will be involved in Tuesday evening’s Champions League match against Real Sociedad.

But a return against Lazio next weekend could certainly be in the cards.

Inter travel to Rome to face last season’s Serie A runners-up on Sunday evening.

And with a week left to go before then, Pavard could very well recover sufficiently to be back on the pitch. He could either be on the bench, or even start.

The Gazzetta notes that Pavard had no problem joining his teammates in the celebrations yesterday evening against Udinese.

Therefore. the 27-year-old’s condition looks to be quite good. He should soon be able to make a return to full training, and then play again very soon.
