Inter Milan are interested in signing Sassuolo fullback Jeremy Toljan.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who name the former Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim among the possible candidates to reinforce on the right flank for the Nerazzurri.

One of the major areas of the pitch where Inter will likely look to strengthen in the next couple transfer windows is at right-wingback.

There is currently Denzel Dumfries in the squad. The Dutchman is more or less the first-choice option in the position.

And then Matteo Darmian is more than capable of covering on the right flank. The 34-year-old started against Udinese yesterday evening in the position.

Lastly, Juan Cuadrado arrived during the summer on a free transfer from Juventus.

But despite having been signed as a backup option for Dumfries, Cuadrado has yet to start a match for Inter. Fitness issues are the reason.

Even with Dumfries missing due to injury against Udinese yesterday, it was Darmian rather than the Colombian who started on the right.

Considering that Darmian is also vital cover in defense, there looks to be a real need to bolster the squad with a right-wingback in the next couple of windows.

Inter Show Interest In Sassuolo Fullback Jeremy Toljan

29-year-old German international Toljan has enjoyed a very positive start to the season with Sassuolo.

The former Dortmund man has already made five assists in Serie A.

Toljan has proven that he is a suitable player for the Italian top flight over several seasons at Sassuolo.

And the German has a profile that would make him a fairly logical target for Inter.

Toljan is right-footed, and has the stamina and athleticism to cover his side of the pitch.

Therefore, FCIN report, the 29-year-old is among the Nerazzurri’s targets in the role.

However, that does not mean that the interest has gone very far.

There may have been some tentative contacts between Inter and Sassuolo. The Nerazzurri have expressed their interest.

But there have been no serious negotiations.

However, a key factor could well be Toljan’s contract situation.

The German’s deal with Sassuolo currently runs out at the end of June 2025. This could mean that he will be available for a fairly low price next summer, FCIN notes.
