Former Lazio Sporting Director Igli Tare believes current Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has  always been “destined for greatness.”

Tare spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. He also gave the view that Inter and Juventus are the two strongest teams currently in Serie A.

Inzaghi had built his reputation as a coach over more than half a decade in charge at Lazio before he took over at Inter in the summer of 2021.

Simone Inzaghi has a long legacy as a player with the Biancocelesti. That is before becaming one of the club’s most long-lasting coaches.

With Tare as his Sporting Director, Inzaghi guided Lazio back into the Champions League.

In the 2020-21 season, the Biancocelesti even reached the round of sixteen in the competition.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi also won the Coppa Italia with Lazio as a coach. And the Supercoppa Italiana twice.

This was the beginning of the 47-year-old’s reputation as a great cup competition coach.

Inzaghi has since won both of Italy’s domestic cup competitions twice with Inter.

And the former Lazio coach has also reached the dizzying heights of the Champions League final with the Nerazzurri, narrowly losing to Manchester City earlier this year.

This season, Inzaghi is further strengthening his credentials as he and Inter push for a Serie A title. That is one trophy that the coach is still missing on his CV.

Igli Tare: Simone Inzaghi “Destined For Greatness”

For his part, former Biancocelesti Sporting Director Tare isn’t surprised at all with how well Inzaghi is doing at Inter.

The executive has a long history of working with the 47-year-old behind the scenes.

Asked if he’s surprised, Tare replied “Not at all.”

“He was destined for greatness,” he continued.

“He just studied football all day. It was always natural that he’d improve,” he said of the Inter coach.

“He did so with humility and commitment, and now he’s a complete coach. He deserves it.”

And Tare replied to questions on if Juventus and Inter Milan are head and shoulders above the rest of Serie A.

“Yes,” the executive replied.

“There’s them, and then there’s Milan and Napoli, who have grown a lot.”

“Thanks to a great coach, Luciano Spalletti, who made the most of all their players last season.”
