Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni feels that the Nerazzurri will not make the same mistakes as the last time they faced Real Sociedad.

The 24-year-old spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, ahead of the Champions League group stage clash.

Inter are closing out their group stage campaign in the Champions League against the same team they began it with.

The Nerazzurri’s opener was away in San Sebastian against Real Sociedad.

And the La Liga team gave Inter one of the toughest matches they’ve faced all season.

Inter did manage to snatch a point. But it only came after a very late equalizer from Lautaro Martinez.

The Nerazzurri’s onslaught on the La Real only started in the closing stages of the match.

For the majority of the match, it was the Spaniards who controlled proceedings.

Inter did not look equipped to handle La Real’s organized, high-tempo pressing and possession. Therefore, La Real overran the Nerazzurri.

Bastoni: Inter Won’t Make Same Mistakes As Last Time Vs Real Sociedad

The big question in this match will be whether Inter will be able to impose themselves on the match from the start more than they had done the first time that they faced this opposition.

The Nerazzurri cannot say they aren’t expecting a difficult match after the last match.

And La Real have further shown their quality with emphatic wins over Benfica and Red Bull Salzburg.

But Inter defender Bastoni said that “They also play the same way in La Liga.”

“They travelled to Madrid and Barcelona and played like this,” he noted. “And I expect they’ll do the same thing this evening.”

“They’re one of the best teams in Europe at winning the ball in the final third,” Bastoni noted.

“We know what we’re up against.”

“We paid in the first match against them. But we’ll try not to make the same mistakes this time around.”

And Bastoni also gave his thoughts on the importance of topping the group with a win.

“It’s important, first of all because it would mean a win, which is what we want to do every time we take the pitch. So we’ll give 100%.”

And he added that “This season we’ve known right from the start how important it is to top the group. So we’ve been trying to do that.”
