Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto is disappointed with yesterday’s Champions League draw with Real Sociedad, but looking forward.

The 24-year-old Brazilian international spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after the match.

Inter were not able to secure top spot in their Champions League group.

The Nerazzurri had already booked their place in the knockout rounds with a couple matches to spare. But this evening, they needed a win if they were to finish top spot.

In the end, Real Sociedad were able to hold out for a point. That means that the La Liga side will finish top of the group rather than Inter.

Inter did even have some good chances to score. But in the end they were not able to finish any of them.

Some disappointment is only natural.

Inter will now almost certainly face a tougher draw in the next round.

Carlos Augusto Disappointed With Real Sociead Draw, But Looking Forward

After the match, Augusto said that “We’re disappointed.”

“We’re Inter and we want to win every match,” he continued.

“But they’re a great team, excellent in possession.”

“Now let’s look forward,” the Brazilian added.

“We’ve kept another clean sheet and had an excellent defensive game,” Augusto noted.

He noted that “Now we have to focus on the league again, and then the Coppa Italia.”

As far as any teams that he’d hope to avoid in the round of sixteen in the Champions League, Augusto said that “There are strong teams. But we’re Inter and we’re strong too.”

“We don’t want to choose our opponent. Whoever it ends up being, we’ll be ready, and we can do well in the round of sixteen.”

Of yesterday’s match against La Real, Augusto said that “We weren’t good enough at taking advantage of our chances.”

“We’re in the round of sixteen, though,” the Brazilian said. “Clearly, top of the group would be better. But we’re looking forward.”
