Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto feels that the Nerazzurri needed to do better with the chances they had against Real Sociedad.

The Brazilian spoke to InterTV after the 0-0 Champions League draw, via FCInterNews.

Inter did keep a clean sheet yesterday against Real Sociedad.

It meant that the Nerazzurri finished their Champions League group stage campaign without suffering a defeat in six matches.

That is certainly one aspect to be positive about.

But ultimately, it was not enough for the Nerazzurri to achieve their objective of topping their group.

Inter needed a win in order to go above La Real in the standings for the group. The two teams were level on points heading into yesterday’s match, but the La Liga team had the superior goal difference.

And it’s not as though there were no chances for Inter to snatch a victory.

The Nerazzurri did not exactly batter the La Real goal with chances. But they did have a few dangerous moments, and even clear opportunities to score.

But in the end, Inter were not able to do much with those chances.

The match ended in a stalemate, which proved to be the better result for the Spaniards.

Carlos Augusto: Inter Needed To Be More Clinical With Chances Vs Real Sociedad

“We wanted to top the group,” Augusto said after the match.

“And we did well on the defensive side.”

“We created some chances,” the Brazilian added. “But maybe we needed to be a little more clinical in attack.”

Augusto started yesterday’s match in the back three. That was also the role that he had played against Napoli.

“I also like playing that position,” the Brazilian said. “And I think that playing more than one position is a good thing for me.”

He noted that “I have to work hard in training, and play when I have the opportunity regardless of position.”
