Inter Milan don’t consider Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio to be a transfer target despite some reports of interest.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri wouldn’t likely invest in a significant fee to sign the 26-year-old as a backup option.

Di Gregorio is a name who’s been linked to Inter in the past couple days.

The 26-year-old now has more than a full season of Serie A football under his belt.

Di Gregorio is an Inter youth academy product.

But the keeper left the Nerazzurri to join Monza on a permanent basis last summer. He had previously spent two seasons on loan with the Brianzoli in Serie B.

Di Gregorio’s performances for Monza have been excellent in the top flight.

The former Inter keeper has more than played his part in keeping the Lombard team in a comfortable midtable position.

Inter Don’t Consider Monza Keeper Michele Di Gregorio A Transfer Target

But the main issue, FCIN report, is the potential price tag attached to Di Gregorio.

Given the keeper’s form, Monza would demand at least €20 million for his signature in all likelihood.

Even though Inter do have a resale percentage that could lower that fee, that is still more than the Nerazzurri would want to spend on a backup keeper.

Yann Sommer is still firmly the first-choice keeper for Inter.

Even though the former Bayern Munich keeper turns 35 in just a few days, there are few signs of him slowing down.

Therefore, Inter still see Sommer as the Number One for a couple more season.

As such, the priority for the Nerazzurri would not be to spend big on a backup keeper.

Rather, the thinking centres around a backup for Sommer.

Athletico Paranaense’s Bento is one player very much on Inter’s radar.

Then, there is also the question of the future of Emil Audero’s future. The 26-year-old is currently on loan at Inter from Sampdoria.
