Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi credits Real Sociedad for the quality they showed to get a 0-0 Champions League draw.

The 35-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, after the match.

Inter were not able to break through and score a winner against Real Sociedad yesterday.

In the end, the final match of the group stage was a stalemate.

La Real dominated the ball early on. But they were unable to turn their possession into any telling chances.

And as the match wore on, Inter started to have a little more control.

The Nerazzurri were able to dictate the tempo of proceedings. And there were even a couple of good chances for Inter to score from.

But in truth, shots on target were at a premium all evening.

It was clearly a matter of two sides who had the quality to just about negate one another’s strengths, for the most part.

So for Inter defender Acerbi, there is little he can do except tip his cap to a very good La Real side who were able to make it a difficult match for the Nerazzurri.

Inter Defender Acerbi Credits Real Sociedad For Hard-Fought Champions League Draw

After the match, Acerbi said that “We got a 0-0 draw against an excellent team.”

“There’s nothing to be said,” he continued.

“We wanted to win but we don’t always manage to do so.”

Acerbi added, “Credit to them where it’s due, because we weren’t able to do what we set out to.”

“But we’re still second in the group.”

“They caused problems for us with their quality in possession,” Acerbi said. “That’s where we struggled.”

“Nothing special, that’s how it went.”

“We wanted to finish top because the teams that finish in second end up facing a top side,” Acerbi admitted.

“But we know that we’re a strong team. Anyway, we’ll have to face one of those teams sooner or later.”

As for how he keeps his form up well into his thirties, Acerbi said that “I try to keep myself in good physical condition by leading a normal, quiet life.”

“And then I push past fatigue with motivation,” the Inter defender said.
