Inter Milan finished second in their Champions League group with a draw against Real Sociedad.

It will have been a night of mixed emotions for the Nerazzurri.

On the one hand, Inter failed to secure top spot in their group. They ended level on points with La Real, but with an inferior goal difference.

But on the other, Inter know that they’ve secured their place in the knockouts for a third season running. And they did so without losing a match in the group stage.

As football statistics account Opta highlighted on Twitter, “Inter remained unbeaten in a Champions League group stage for the second time after 2004/05. Solid.”
