Inter Milan’s backline has received a significant boost with Benjamin Pavard rejoining the squad for Sunday’s clash against Lazio.

As Il Corriere dello Sport (via FcInterNews) tells it, the Frenchman is once again available for selection after overcoming an injury.

The defender sustained a knock during the match against Atalanta in Bergamo on the 4th of November.

But after proving his fitness in training this week, the 27-year-old earned a call-up for the trip to Rome.

However, the source expects him to start on the bench.

Nevertheless, the return of the 2018 World Cup hero is a timely one for Inzaghi who’s currently missing the services of Stefan de Vrij at the back.

Moreover, Matteo Darmian is filling in on the right side due to the absence of Denzel Dumfries and Juan Cuadrado. This leaves the backline short on personnel.

Therefore, having Pavard on the bench will certainly ease the situation for Inzaghi.

But in the meantime, Yann Bisseck will get the nod for the second straight Serie A fixture after featuring against Udinese.

The 23-year-old German will join Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni at the back for this evening’s clash against Lazio.

However, Pavard will be eager to regain his starting berth sooner rather than later once he regains his optimal physical condition.

The France international joined the Nerazzurri at the end of the summer transfer session after pushing for a transfer from Bayern Munich.

The versatile defender has thus far made six Serie A appearances for Inter in addition to three Champions League outings.
