Frosinone goalkeeper Stefano Turati admits his great passion for Inter Milan while opening up on Federico Dimarco’s super goal.

The 22-year-old started his career at Inter’s academy before leaving in 2017.

The Italian then climbed through the ranks at Sassuolo. He’s been on loan at Frosinone since 2022 and recently rose to prominence following some impressive Serie A displays.

Nevertheless, the goalkeeper is still dreaming of a return to the Nerazzurri, setting some high objectives for himself.

“My ultimate dream? Lifting the Champions League trophy as Inter captain,” said Turati in an interview with Sportweek via FcInterNews.

Last season, the cameras caught the young goalkeeper among Inter’s ultras at the Stadio Olimpico during the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina.

Turati admits that he’s been a lifelong Inter supporter, often cheering on the club from the Curva Nord.

“They filmed me on Dazn and the next day, I don’t know how many calls I received.

“At Frosinone, they didn’t say anything. After all, I had already told [then-manager Fabio] Grosso.

“I said to him ‘Mister, I’m going to watch the Cup final’. I also wanted to go to Milan for the Champions League Derby. ‘Mister, I’m not here for Milan-Inter and Inter-Milan.’

“He thought I was joking, except that I wasn’t. But in the first leg, we hadn’t secured promotion to Serie A just yet, so he didn’t give me permission. But I was satisfied with the return leg.”

Frosinone Goalkeeper Stefano Turati Believes Federico Dimarco Was Going For A Cross

However, Turati endured a tough homecoming this season, having conceded a stunning goal from more than 50 meters courtesy of Federico Dimarco.

The goalkeeper said he didn’t get any sleep that night.

“I wanted to play the game of my life. The most exciting moment was the warm-up with the Curva Nord in front of me.

“You have to understand that I spent years in the Curva. My friends are there. I thought, damn, I was one of seventy-five thousand and now I’m one of twenty-two.

“This thought stunned me at first but I shook it off when the match began.

“After conceding that goal, I didn’t sleep at night. In my opinion, it was a cross that went wayward, but it’s in the past now.”

Finally, Turati names several Inter Milan treble heroes as his idols, including Julio Cesar.

“As a child, Julio Cesar, Zanetti and Materazzi were my idols.

“Julio Cesar made me fall in love with the goalkeeper’s role. He was so “stylish”.

“In the modern game, I like Donnarumma and Vicario, two phenomenal keepers. Then there’s Maignan, Szczesny and Di Gregorio whose like a brother to me. And of course Yann Sommer.”
