Inter Milan and Denzel Dumfries will either renew their collaboration or part ways at the end of the season.

The Dutchman joined the club in 2021 as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi. He almost immediately cemented himself as a regular starter.

This season, the wingback has been showing improvement, especially in the attacking phase. He scored two goals and provided his teammates with four assists across all competitions.

His contributions will become even more vital in the next months with his understudy Juan Cuadrado recovering from a recent surgery.

However, Dumfries’ future at the club remains anything but certain.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInter1908, the management and the player must find an agreement over a renewal during the course of the season, or a divorce will become inevitable.

The 27-year-old’s current deal will expire in the summer of 2025.

So if the Nerazzurri fail to put his signature on a new contract, they would prefer to sell him at the end of the season to avoid losing his services for free a year later.

Inter Milan Could Part Ways With Denzel Dumfries If They Fail To Reach An Agreement This Season

As the source explains, around one million euros still separates the two parties. While the player is requesting yearly wages worth 5 million euros, the club is only offering 4M.

Thus, the Roman newspaper doesn’t expect the two parties to find an accord anytime soon. The negotiations will therefore drag for the next months.

So if the two sides don’t reach an agreement by June, the sale could become likely, if not obligatory, notes the source.
