Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has confirmed that Inter Milan are working to replace Juan Cuadrado in the January transfer window.

The coach spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, following his team’s 2-0 Serie A win over Lecce, noting that Cuadrado will be out until April. Inzaghi also praised striker Marko Arnautovic.

Inter wingback Cuadrado will be on the sidelines for the foreseeable future,

The Colombian had to undergo surgery on his left Achilles tendon.

Cuadrado successfully completed the operation. But the 35-year-old former Juventus, Chelsea, and Fiorentina veteran will have to recover over the coming weeks, or even months.

This means that Inter will be without a player who offers depth at right-wingback for a big chunk of the run-in of the campaign.

Denzel Dumfries is first-choice in the role. But the Dutchman has had fitness issues of his own – he is currently out with a muscle injury.

And then there’s Matteo Darmian.

The former Manchester United man is certainly more than capable of playing on the right flank. But he is also important cover in defense.

Therefore, at present, Inter’s squad does not look like it is in great shape on the right given the punishing fixture list on the way.

Inzaghi Confirms Inter Working To Replace Juan Cuadrado

Inter coach Inzaghi said of the right-wingback issue that “The directors and I are in discussions.”

“They’re already working on it,” he continued.

“We have a lot of matches close together. So I have to come up with things in the wingback positions.”

Inzaghi noted that “Cuadrado will be out until April. So that will be a big loss for us.”

And Inzaghi also praised the performance from striker Marko Arnautovic against Lecce.

“The performance from Arnautovic was worthy of two goals,” the coach said. “He was excellent from the first minute to the last.”

“The only regret is that he didn’t find the back of the net,” he continued.

“On the first chance he had, Falcone did well.”

Inzaghi noted that “We came into this off the back of a result that we weren’t happy with. We would have deserved to reach the next round of the Coppa Italia against Bologna.”

“We played 120 minutes on Wednesday,” he noted.

“We left a lot on the pitch.”

“We had the right determination and conviction that we needed. It wasn’t easy, in the first half and the first part of the second half Lecce defended well. Then after the second goal we were in control.”
