Inter Milan Defender On Duel With In-Form Lecce Striker: ‘He’s A Great Player, But So Am I’

Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck is expecting a tough match up against Lecce’s Lameck Banda, but believes he’s up to the task.

The 23-year-old spoke to InterTV ahead of the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Lecce this evening, via FCInterNews.

Inter will not be underestimating Lecce in this evening’s match.

On the one hand, there is no disguising the fact that the Nerazzurri are the favourites.

Inter are currently top of the Serie A table, having won their last three matches in the league and lost just one all season.

And the Nerazzurri are playing in front of their own fans at the San Siro.

But on the other, Lecce have certainly proven to be a formidable side this season.

Despite being a relatively small club with a budget much smaller than Inter or any of Serie A’s heavy hitters, the Puglian team have earned a place solidly in the midtable region of the Italian top flight.

This is partly down to the way that they play as a team.

Former Sampdoria and Parma coach Roberto D’Aversa has set Lecce up well in his first season in charge.

But additionally, the individual quality of many of Lecce’s players has also been important.

There aren’t many big names in the Puglian team’s squad. They tend to be younger players with a lot to prove.

But players like Banda have shown themselves to be at the necessary level to thrive in Serie A.

Yann Bisseck Look Forward To Good Battle With Lecce’s Lameck Banda

Bisseck said of Lecce that “They’re a good team. They have good players.”

“But we’ll play the way that we always do,” the 23-year-old German youth international continued.

“[Banda] seems like he’s a great player,'” the said of the Zambian forward.

“But so am I. I’m confident.”

“We’ll go into this match like any other,” Bisseck continued.

“We’ve analyzed them in detail. They’re a good team, with a good coach.”

“They’re on a great run,” the Inter defender said. “But we’re ready for them. And above all, we want to redeem ourselves after what happened in Wednesday’s match.”

Of his recent run, Bisseck said that “As a player, I always want to start.”

“I think I’m learning well, from my teammates and from my coach,” he continued.

“I still have a lot to learn. But I’m on the right path.”
