Germany U21 Starlet Declares: ‘I Believe In Myself, If Inter Milan Wanted Me It’s For A Reason’

Defender Yann Bisseck is confident that he’s at Inter Milan for a reason.

The 23-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 Serie A win over Lecce.

Bisseck kept his string of recent starts for Inter going in yesterday’s match against Lecce.

It has been a succession of injuries that has opened the door for the young German to start. The likes of Benjamin Pavard, Stefan de Vrij, and Denzel Dumfries have been out.

But even with much more experienced players like Pavard and de Vrij returning, Bisseck has kept his place.

The former Aarhus defender showed just why with his display against Lecce yesterday.

Bisseck got his first ever goal in an Inter shirt to open the scoring.

And beyond that it was a confident, composed display both defensively and with the ball at his feet from the German.

If Bisseck’s first couple outings in the Champions League were tentative, that sense has evaporated.

Now the 23-year-old looks confident, and like a player who belongs in the Inter lineup.

Yann Bisseck: At Inter For A Reason

“I believe in myself a lot,” Bisseck said after yesterday’s match.

“There must be a reason why Inter decided to sign me,” the defender said.

“I feel good here,” Bisseck continued.

“I’m happy to have had the opportunity to show what I can do,” he added. “And I hope that I can have even more.”

And the German also fielded a question about whether he could also play as a wingback.

“I happened to play as a midfielder when I was younger,” he noted.

“I just want to get out on the pitch, I don’t care where.”

Bisseck said of his teammate Marko Arnautovic “We know that it’s difficult for a striker when you don’t get the numbers that everyone expects from you.”

“We’re all happy with the assist he made today,” the 23-year-old said.

“He’s a great guy and everyone here loves him.”
